The kitchen is making me so happy! Appliances are all in and, gasp, FUNCTIONAL (uh, unless you count that the hot water is wonky in the shower only, and only if you're IN the shower. If you stand outside it, no problem.)

Mander has the floor in and it is so f-ing great. It's another few days before we can wet or wax it but it still looks great with the cabinet color. So pysched.

Today I, through the miracle of spray paint, have been transforming various accesstories.
The bike frame pot rack is now silver and I spruced up the wire bike basket that's going to hang beneath it for utensils. We want to find a bike light or two to provide task lighting since it will hang above the chopping block (the dresser that is.) My step ladder and bread box have been painted red and Mom is currently out hunting for new vinyl for the seat.

The dresser has some lovely back story. It's one L'amandita bought and painted a shockingly deep blue. When she moved to Portland it was my consolation prize, I painted it Martha Stewart Green and used it in the kitchen. It survived the remodel and, with wheels is now a chopping block island. It's a shade lighter of blue than the walls will be (and a shade darker than the dining room/living room will be) and I am already thrilled with the color combo.

And, as you'll see in pictures forthcoming, the counters are in and beautiful. Mander's custom work on dropping the sink and putting in a drain board make it look really, uh, custom! Hopefully the last of the stain will go on tonight. Some drywall is up and hopefully I'll be able to make the new Magic Backslpash this afternoon. Which I guess won't get done while I'm bragging about it. More pictures soon!
